PIPPA L'VINN'S "MIDSOMER MELTDOWN".
Live from The Wrestling Factory, Manchester, UK.
Saturday 18 June 2011: Show Report by Mark Lockey.
Referee: Paul Steel
MC: Brett Linforth
Corner Men: Dave and Chris.
PA (Sound) Andy.
Camera: Andrew.

A strong European presence today with ladies representing both Hungary and Sweden.
The Summer sun may have been missing but the heat was certainly full on within the walls of the venue.
The expectant crowd were treated to a magnificent display of both Mat based and pro style wrestling !

Mat Based Match: 15 minute duration.
Venus v Inferno:
Crowd favourite Venus entered the ring in a superb two-piece black outfit and boots. Equally stunning was the Londoner: Inferno. As both ladies locked up, a camel -clutch led to (possibly) one of the quickest submissions witnessed.
This intense, but fun bout soon got into its stride with Venus taking charge early on. The second fall was achieved with one lady taking a 2-0 lead, quickly followed by a submission, bringing the score back to 2-1. Inferno threatened to take control at this stage before a potential catfight ensued !
This bright opener continued with a 3-1 score, via submission; clawed back equally quickly to 3-2.
Venus has a couple of 2 counts before the bout concluded with a 4-4 draw.

Mat Based Match: 15 minute duration.
Dynamo v Pippa:
London challenged Manchester next with Dynamo in a red top, skirt and black leggings, facing the ultimate female combatant: Pippa L'Vinn in a fantastic 2 piece outfit. Pippa's amazing strength and strong legs were accentuated by her lovely shorts.
A 1-0 lead was gained by a submission early on. Pippa looked well up for this match; the concentration showing in her eyes. At one point she yelled: " I'll squeeze her head like a pimple ! ".
Dynamo began verbally goading Pippa and a submission equalled the match at 1-1, though, this was rightly contested as it appeared that a hold of the ropes had occurred. A tap out took the bout to 2-1, quickly followed by an equaliser with the wrestler on the receiving end claiming some "illegal tickling" had taken place !
Dynamo continued to tease Pippa vocally and applied some blatant hair pulling, threatening to send Pippa over the edge with fury. A final submission ended with a clear 4-2 victory.

Pro. Style Match: 15 minute duration.
April Davids v Kay Lee Ray:
The first Pro style match of the show pitted venue favourite April Davids  - the Lancashire hotpot, against one of three debutants - Kay Lee Ray. The colourful newcomer looked stunning in her red hair and even received a compliment from the ever sporting April ! After initially sizing each other up, Kay started to take the match to April with an arm lock following a reversal of a similar hold applied by April.
Kay came close with a 2 count via a spectacular body slam. These 2 girls were evenly matched and a further 2 count followed for Kay though, April was proving to be a resilient opponent.
This outstanding match resulted in a 1-0 victory. An amazing debut by Kay; more was to come from her later in the show.

Pro. Style Match: 15 minute duration.
Shelby Beach v Alexa Rose:
The blonde bombshell Shelby Beach was next up. The lovely lady from Wigan taking time out as always to politely greet a few of the audience en route to the ring. Her opponent, the second newcomer of the day: Alexa Rose.
The debut girl clearly had attitude and took on quite an aggressive stance. Shelby survived the early onslaught and was on the receiving end of a knee to the ribs. Alexa came close with a 2 count, applied an eye rake to Shelby and continued on the offensive. Shelby - a clear crowd favourite - started to take control; applying a Boston crab in which Alexa did well to reach the ropes. Alexa came close with 2 successive 2 counts.
A 3 count roll-up concluded this fierce battle.

Pro. Style Match: 15 minute duration.
Sarah v Shelly Star:
Sarah from Scotland took on the 3rd and final new girl: Shelly Star in this Pro style match.
Shelly looked very agile during the opening exchanges; each girl countering a succession of arm and wrist locks.
Again, the flexible Shelly threw 3 successive hip tosses on Sarah. Both girls made full use of the ring. Sarah started to come back at Shelly, working her over in the turnbuckle and threatened to take control.
She then applied a backbreaker, resulting in a 2 count. The 3rd Pro. match of the show was unfolding into another outstanding contest.
The match concluded with a submission via a Boston crab. A sporting embrace by both girls at the end was encouraging to witness.

6 Girl Mat Based Tag Match:
Europe v UK
An intiguing prospect next with a European feel to it. The UK consisting of Shelby Beach, Dynamo and Kassidy against European ladies: Jenny Sjodin (Sweden) and Viktoria and Antscha (Hungary).
Shelby locked up with Viktoria to start with, though, shortly after tagged in Dynamo.
A furious melee ensued with " controlled chaos ", exciting exchanges continued at a very fast pace. At one point all six girls were wrestling in the ring with referee Paul Steel unable to maintain control.
An extremely interesting match with so much going on concluded with a narrow 2-1 victory.

INTERVAL

Mat Based Match: 15 minute duration.
Kassidy v Pippa:
The first match after the interval pitched Londoner Kassidy aginst the one and only Pippa L'Vinn. Soon after the opening exchange, a sporting exchange of words took place - Pippa: " I forgot how tall you were ! ". Kassidy: " I forgot how short you were ! "
Intense, concentrated holds and moves unfolded; both ladies clearly at the top of their game. It was a pleasure to witness such a display with mutual respect on both sides. Pippa cleverly continued to thwart Kassidy's threatened leg locks to the head by keeping herself low to the ground.
A 4-3 final score brought this very enjoyable and sporting contest to a close.

Pro. Style Match: 10 min duration.
Shelly Star v Kay Lee Ray:
A pro style match with 2 new girls returning to the ring.
This was to be a complete test of strength with both ladies of similar size and stature.
The match was a real treat; a spectacular and fast paced encounter with both girls making full use of the ring.
At one point the turnbuckle became detached, such was the ferocity and speed in which both wrestlers were applying
themselves.  Shelly and Kay tirelessly thrilled the audience with their efforts.
This impressive spectacle ended with a pin towards the end of the 10 minute time limit.

Mat Based Match: 15 minute duration.
Viktoria v Inferno:
Viktoria entered in a red bikini contrasted by inferno in an orange patterned leotard and tights.
Almost immediately, Viktoria's confidence threatened to intimidate the London girl.
An early lead was taken via a submission. Viktoria's constant application of holds was met with fierce resisitence from Inferno.
A fascinating clash of styles finally resulted in a 3-0 victory.

Pro. Style Match:
Sarah v Alexa Rose:

Both girls were making their second appearance of the day. Sarah looked very determined form the opening bell and, although she commenced this bout on the offensive, each hold was successfully countered by the equally strong-willed Alexa: " You can't outsmart me " she shouted early on.
As Alexa started to gain confidence and took the match to Sarah although, at times, using questionable tactics.
She received a warning at one point from referee Paul for hair pulling. The match continued at a frenetic and energetic pace with neither girl able to gain sufficient momentum to dominate the other.
A resulting pin brought the mtach to a climax with a 1-0 victory.

Mat Based Match: 15 minute duration.
Antscha v Jenny Sjodin
The penultimate contest had a distinct European flavour with Antscha taking on Jenny Sjodin. Both girls wore bikinis.
It was made quite clear straight away the both combatants had a real rivalry as continuous taunts and verbal exchanges were made in relation to each of their respective countries.
Although this was a Mat based match it did contain some Pro style elements.
The impression they gave was that they were not only fighting for their individual rights but, for their countries as well.
A very closely fought battle that no-one was able to predict the outcome of - it was that close and competitive.
A narrow 2-1 victory was gained in this very enjoyable match - one senses that a return contest is inevitable.

Rumble: Last Woman Standing Match:
Contestants in order of appearance: April Davids, Pippa L'Vinn, Sarah, Shelly Star, Alexa Rose, Shelby Beach & Kay Lee Ray.

The final match of this wonderful show featured a mix of 7 ladies, initially with April Davids v Pippa L'Vinn then, at regular intervals other ladies joined the action. It was fast, frantic and highly entertaining to watch.
All friendships and allegiances were abandoned as it was every girl for herself. The winner would be the lone lady left standing after all the other girls had been thrown out of the ring.
A surprise late entry turned the whole of this match on its head  - literally !

Summary:
Yet another fantastic show with everything one could ask for - intense Mat Based action complemented by fast paced pro. style excitement.
Breathtaking performances and wonderful efforts by all of the ladies with a perfect balance of experienced performers along with 3 exciting debuts - where does Pippa find these young, talented, very attractive ladies!
The privileged audience were treated to wrestling of the highest quality with beautiful girls in glamorous costumes.
Pippa's shows ALWAYS deliver and "Midsomer Meltdown " certainly lived up to its pre show billing - a brilliant time was had by all, as always. Some people claim that this was the best show at the Factory yet !!
